This work is by Shun Otsuki, a young teapot craftsman from Yokkaichi City.
Otsuki is an artist who creates works depicting "beautiful, fine-grained skin."

As he is a tea lover, he made a teapot in the size and shape that he wanted.
The techniques of Hiromi Yamamoto, the artist who taught me, can be seen everywhere.

・Carefully selected fine clay ・Long, rounded handle for an easy grip ・Delicately crafted tea strainer ・Exquisitely fitted handle

When brewed in this high-temperature fired purple clay teapot,
Sencha, Japanese black tea, and Chinese tea all have a soft yet flavorful taste.
After actually using it, I felt it was a product that would satisfy me.
* Purple clay: This item is reduced and then oxidized and fired.
*The lid for this teapot is an inro lid.

[Handling history]
It was in 2018 that the owner of Yoshida Tea Farm visited the studio of Hiromi Yamamoto, a Banko ware artist in Yokkaichi City. He was introduced to Otsuki, an artist who had studied under Yamamoto, and they met. I remember being impressed by his gentle way of speaking and his love of teapots. I started purchasing Otsuki's teapots little by little from 2019, and began using them for personal use.

Otsuki's creations begin with collecting and refining the soil himself to create fine clay. The teapots he produces from this clay have a deep luster and a subdued texture. As someone who has used Otsuki's teapots for some time, I feel that the quality has improved remarkably in recent years, including in terms of texture, balance, and ease of use. They have also become more powerful, which is truly impressive.
